Oaktown Spice Shop has been supplying the city of Oakland with unique and high quality spices since December 2011 when founders John Beaver and Erica Perez opened its doors in the Grand Lake Neighborhood.
Named one of the “World’s Best Spice Shops” by Food + Wine Magazine , Oaktown Spice Shop is known for its collection of unique spice blends perfect for beef, pork, poultry or fish – whatever is on your dinner plate. It sources its spices from China, India, Vietnam, and North and West Africa – practically “every continent except Antartica.”
Oaktown Spice Shop supplies many of the city’s most popular restaurants such as neighbors Barlago Italian Kitchen (another stop on our Grand Lake Cultural Cuisine Food Tour ) and Sidebar with a wide variety of salts, peppercorns, herbs, chiles and teas.
In an interview with Berkeleyside’s NOSH blog, owner Erica Perez advised, “At other places there’s no one there to advise or make cooking suggestions. People can come in here and figure out what to make for dinner.”
If you’d like your dinner taste as good, you can visit the shop, order directly on its website and on the foodie website Food52.
