Inaugural Aisle 5’s Beer & Bites Benefit set for Thursday, December 14

Local East Bay food and beer businesses to come together to raise funds for the Alameda County Community Food Bank

OAKLAND – (November 8) – Ever wish you could bring people together over food and beer and help change the world? Now you can! The first ever Aisle 5’s Beer & Bites Benefit will be held on Thursday, December 14 from 6 to 11 pm in an effort to celebrate local business and raise funds for the Alameda County Community Food Bank during the much-needed holiday giving season.

Grand Lake restaurant newcomer Aisle 5 is teaming up with East Bay food and beer tour companies Local Food Adventures and Whole Brew World to create an evening of festive fun, live music and an insiders’ look into the world of food and beer.

Guests will be able to meet local brewers including Drake’s Brewing Company , Oakland United Beerworks , Laughing Monk Brewing and Gillman Brewing Company . All brewers will each be pouring featured beers and providing first-hand insights into their brews. Aisle 5 executive chef Mark Scott will be pairing each of the brewer’s beers with a selection of unique, off-menu bites and will be providing live cooking demonstrations throughout the evening.

“Beer is so in right now. This is a great way to not only tap into those who love beer, but also introduce novices to new categories and perhaps even help them find their new favorite local brew,” Jean Calixto, owner of Whole Brew World , says.

This event will be the first in a series of events from the group bringing the community together over bites and beer to support local non-profit organizations.

“Ever since my first tour we have donated to the [Alameda County Community] food bank,” Lauren McCabe Herpich, owner of Local Food Adventures , says. “I’ve always wanted to make sure that our neighbors in need are able to enjoy food as well. I’m glad we can continue that support here.”

According to the Alameda County Community Food Bank , one in five county residents are served by the organization’s efforts. For every dollar donated, the food bank is able to turn that donation into $6 worth of healthy food for recipients.

Guests of the Benefit will receive tastings for each of the breweries beers, all food pairings, a pint of the night’s favorite beer, live cooking demonstrations, music, fun and a raffle ticket for door prizes to be awarded throughout the night.

Tickets are $85 in advance or $95 at the door.

For more information and to purchase a ticket, go to Eventbrite or call Local Food Adventures at 510-604-6546.

Moms are superheroes who deserve to be celebrated every year—but especially this year, as they have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to CBS News , women lost one million more jobs than men during the pandemic, and the year also highlighted the lack of affordable childcare options. Mother’s Day, which falls on Sunday, May 9th this year, couldn’t be a better day to celebrate your mom and give her a special gift to make sure she knows how much you cherish her.
