Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Amanda Young • May 12, 2021

It may only be May, but Father’s Day will be here before we know it! If you are looking for the perfect Bay Area-inspired present for your dad, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered.

Here’s a list of ideas for Father’s Day gifts:

1. Local Love Gift Box

If your dad is a foodie, a beer and BBQ fan, or someone with a sweet tooth, we have just the present for you. Check out the full list of Local Love Gift Boxes here ! You’ll get all the goods, conveniently packaged and shipped to your house.

2. San Francisco Giants or Oakland A’s Baseball Tickets

Baseball is back! If you and your family are Bay Area sports fans, taking your dad out for a game might be the perfect gift. Both Oracle Park and the Oakland Coliseum have COVID-19 “pod” seating to accommodate for social distancing, and Dr. Dean Winslow of Stanford Health Care said that there is a “minimal degree of risk with the limitations that have been proposed,” like mask mandates and reduced capacity, according to ABC News

While the A’s aren’t playing at home on Father’s Day this year, you can purchase tickets to other games here. The Giants will be playing on Father’s Day (against the Phillies); if you want to buy tickets to that game or any others, click here !

3. Free Oakland Ale Trail Passport

The Oakland Ale Trail “celebrates the strength of Oakland’s craft beer community,” according to Visit Oakland. If you think this is something up your dad’s alley, you can send your dad the free passport so he can get some perks and discounts at breweries along the trail. Click here to download it!

4. Spices from Oaktown Spice Shop

Oaktown Spice Shop, named one of the world’s best spice shops by Food & Wine Magazine , sells a variety of spices, herbs, and gift sets that your dad can use as he starts up the grill. Check out Oaktown Spice Shop’s website to find the full selection of gift boxes and spices!

5. Everett & Jones BBQ Sauce

Maybe your dad does like to grill, but spices aren’t his thing—no worries! Pick up a couple of jars of the Bay Area-favorite Everett & Jones BBQ Sauce by ordering online here. Alternatively, you can check out one of the Everett & Jones Barbeque restaurants; find the locations here.

6. Flowers

Flowers aren’t just for women. According to the Society of American Florists, 60% of men would like to receive flowers as a gift. If you think that your dad is part of that percentage, you can pick out a nice bouquet for him from one of the Bay Area’s many florists, like Market Hall Foods in Oakland, Oakland Flower Market in Oakland, SF Flower Mart in San Francisco, and Lee’s Florist & Nursery in Berkeley!

7. Coffee Subscription

Our dads do a lot, so a coffee subscription might be the perfect pick-me-up gift. Some Bay Area favorites include Blue Bottle Coffee and Philz Coffee , which both have set and customizable gift subscription options, so you can pick out exactly what you want.

8. Outdoor Adventure

For some dads, there’s no better gift than some quality time. You can explore one of Bay Area’s many beautiful hikes—check out this post for some ideas!— and even take advantage of the reopening of the steam trains at Tilden Regional Park. I used to love riding the train with my parents!

Moms are superheroes who deserve to be celebrated every year—but especially this year, as they have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to CBS News , women lost one million more jobs than men during the pandemic, and the year also highlighted the lack of affordable childcare options. Mother’s Day, which falls on Sunday, May 9th this year, couldn’t be a better day to celebrate your mom and give her a special gift to make sure she knows how much you cherish her.
