January 2018 Update

Happy New Year!

I hope that 2018 is already treating you well and that your holiday season brought you great promise and joy for the new year.

In this January 2018 update, I am so excited to share that I, for one, feel really energized as we head into a new year of tours, which I am calling “Celebrate with your City.” Local Food Adventures will be about focusing on celebrating not only the amazing food scene that we get to enjoy in the East Bay, but also how our food tours can help you with your own personal celebrations.

Thanks to Visit Oakland and our Oakland Restaurant Week partnership , the  Rockridge Neighborhood Heritage and Grand Lake Cultural Cuisine food tours have been selling out, which means more people are joining us to discover what neighborhoods of Oakland have to offer. Woot Woo!

In the same vein, one of my new year’s resolutions is to be more of a resource when it comes to dining in the East Bay. I’m committing myself to sharing my food experiences with you through a new series called “Quick Bites”  on our website’s Local Yummy Blog. I start off with a review of Old Oakland’s The Trappist , a cozy pub specializing in local Bay Area beers and tasty comfort food; perfect for all of those rainy winter days ahead.

I hope this series of food reviews not only tells you more about the amazing growing food scene in the East Bay, but also helps you decide where to spend your hard earned money.

Another thing you’ll be seeing this year are some new special “one-day-only” tours to help keep the celebrations going. First off is our first-ever evening Ice Cream & Gelato Tour on Wednesday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day! Evening tours are a new thing for us and I’m excited to kick them off with this special “sweet” tour for your sweetie.

And if you can’t make that tour, just a reminder that the entire  2018 tour calendar is now online! So no matter the celebration, whether you’re:

  • in need of a unique Valentine’s Day gift or activity

  • looking for something fun to do with your friends

  • in charge of your office team building activities

  • planning your family member’s birthday ( NEW Pizza & Ice Cream Parties … details below!)

  • hosting out-of-town guests in town and need to entertain

  • organizing your social group’s Spring outing

We wish you a great 2018!

Moms are superheroes who deserve to be celebrated every year—but especially this year, as they have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to CBS News , women lost one million more jobs than men during the pandemic, and the year also highlighted the lack of affordable childcare options. Mother’s Day, which falls on Sunday, May 9th this year, couldn’t be a better day to celebrate your mom and give her a special gift to make sure she knows how much you cherish her.
