We’re keeping track of how restaurants and the specialty shops we love here in the East Bay are staying open for business. Due to social distancing mandates by local and state authorities, businesses are not currently allowed to serve guests in their dining rooms. It is the right thing to do in order to help flatten the curve, but it is having a huge economic impact on them, especially as they already survive on thin profit margins.
However, the food industry is a creative one and businesses are coming up with really inventive ways on how to keep providing their goods and services. From offering takeout lunch and dinner options to enabling online gift card purchases to providing dedicated hours for older neighbors to shop, restaurants and stores are doing everything they can to say open for business and survive this trying time.
As you can imagine it is a big job to collect all of this data and there are already great resources keeping track of what businesses are doing. So instead of reinventing the wheel, here are great links from our friends at local chambers of commerce, food publications and news sources that will help you find local restaurants to support and a great takeout meal to enjoy safely in your homes. We have highlighted what our food tour partner s are doing.
