I always enjoyed doing puzzles, especially when I was a kid. Growing up in New Jersey, my family would go down to the Shore and my mom would always put out a puzzle that would last us our entire weeklong vacation. I guess I enjoyed the quiet ability to use my mind to put something beautiful together while just being still. I’m kind of enjoying that right now.
This new shelter-in-place time, and the fact that I now have a four-year-old, is taking me back to those simpler days and the enjoyment of a jigsaw puzzle. We’ve done a couple ranging from a 60-piece Ravensberger featuring lots of trains to a 200-piece depicting a cartoon version of Chicago’s Wrigley Field. It’s been a lot of fun and has given me and my son something that we can do together without having to crawl on the floor pretending to be a police car.
When I recently saw that Visit Oakland put together a group of digital puzzles , I thought I’d create a couple for you to enjoy, too. They range from a simple 20-piece one that you can definitely do with your kids (and features my personal favorite Foodie Kiddo), to a more challenging 300-piecer depicting a scene that I hope we can experience again soon IRL.
Here’s a showcase of ones you can do. My son and I sat on the computer and did a couple together. But I’ll have to admit that I’ve enjoyed sitting alone and doing them by myself as well.
Just click on each image and it will take you directly to the puzzle or you can see our FULL ALBUM of Oakland Food Tour Puzzles.
